Meghalaya eco-tourism infra gets boost with $79-mn NDB aid
Shillong, July 13: The National Development Bank (NDB) will give $79.05 million for the Meghalaya Ecotourism Infrastructure Development Project (MEIDP), which has an estimated cost of $98.80 million.
The agreement for this project was signed between the Centre and NDB on July 10.
MEIDP is spearheaded by the Meghalayan Age Limited under the aegis of the Planning Department, as the project management unit. The project aims to construct cutting-edge infrastructure that will elevate the tourism industry in Meghalaya to new heights.
This transformative project seeks to create comprehensive ecotourism circuits that will attract travellers from all corners of the globe while ensuring sustainable development and conservation of the state’s natural resources.
The primary objective of this project is to expand the tourism sector, subsequently generating substantial revenue and propelling the state’s economy to unprecedented growth.
