
Shillong, Aug 15: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Tuesday that the CM-level border talks will be held shortly and clarified that Meghalaya is not against Assam Mukroh panel which came to Shillong for a hearing but no one responded.
Speaking to reporters, the chief minister said in the last meeting of the Assam Commission on Mukroh incident, the Meghalaya officers were not available.
“This does not mean that we are against the commission instituted by the Assam government”, the chief minister said.
ILP issue
To a question, the chief minister said tourism and ILP should not be linked .
“We are waiting for the Centre’s nod on ILP or MRSSA to deal with the influx issue”, he added.
No resolution on UCC
The chief minister said the Uniform Civil Code is still an idea or concept and hence the government can’t pass a resolution against it in the Assembly.
