Meghalaya team departs for Senior Women’s National Football C’ship

Shillong, Sep 3: The Meghalaya team departed Shillong for West Bengal on Wednesday to participate in the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2025-26.

Meghalaya have been drawn in Group D along with Railways, Sikkim and hosts West Bengal. The 20-member state squad, selected by the Meghalaya Football Association, combines experience and newer faces.

An eye-catching inclusion is goalkeeper Ribansi Jamu, who was recently part of the India squad that qualified for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup, though she did not get any game time, instead supporting the team from the bench.

More experienced names like Makrisha Songthiang, Nisilia Majaw and youngsters Eiladki Ksoo and Inrilaidor Khongthaw round out the state team.

Meghalaya will first play West Bengal on September 6, followed by Sikkim on September 8 and Railways on September 10.
