Meghalaya wins first prize in sprint at Arunachal kayak fest

Shillong, Feb 9: Meghalaya bagged the first prize at the Tawangchu Tides Kayak Festival in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

Elizabeth Vincent from Ri Bhoi’s Whitewater village of Umtham got the first place in the sprint category while Slalom was in the second position. The latter also won the Best Indian Women Paddler prize.

While Bamelaai Shylla got the first position in the women’s sprint amateur category, Manbhalang Kharkrang grabbed the first prize in the boys’ section. Indra Sharma was third in the boys’ sprint amateur category.

All the juniors who participated from Meghalaya won gear and Rs 5,000 cash each.
