MegSIMS to address delays in teachers’ salary

Shillong, Feb 17: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Tuesday the government is processing salary proposals through a portal called Meghalaya School Information Management System (MegSIMS) to eliminate delays in submitting proposals through hard copy.
Replying to a question from Trinamool Congress legislator Mizanur Kazi, Rymbui said there is no delay in the disbursement of salary for government teachers, but there is a delay in other categories of teachers.
“We have cleared the teachers’ salaries till December 2025,” he added.
The minister cited procedural factors in processing payments and said the government had introduced a new system to speed up sanctions.
Asked whether salaries for ad hoc and grant-in-aid teachers had been diverted, Rymbui denied it. “No, sir, there is no diversion of salary. Salary meant for teachers is paid for the teachers,” he said.
Eklavya Model Schools
The state has received approval for 38 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). Of these, two are operational and the remaining are at different stages of development, said Minister Rymbui while replying to a question raised by Balajied Kupar Synrem on Day 2 of the Budget Session on February 17.
The minister further informed that 30 teaching and 22 non-teaching posts have been sanctioned for each EMRS. The two functional schools have 21 teaching and 28 non-teaching staff each.
“The recruitment for Eklavya Model Residential Schools is conducted centrally by the National Education Society for Tribal Students, which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs,” the minister replied. The funding under the EMRS scheme would be 100% grant-in-aid by the ministry.
