According to a statement of the police, during preliminary interview, both the cadres revealed that they were misguided by Samuel Wahlang Pahsyntiew, who is wanted in connection with Shillong Sadar Police Station Case No. 80(03)2024 U/S 120(B)/121A/307/324 IPC R/w Section 10/13/16/18 of UA(P) Act and Section 3(a)/3(b)/5/6 of Explosive Substance Act (Shillong Syndicate Bus Stand IED Blast Case) to join the HNLC and together all fled to Bangladesh. They also revealed that they were associated with the HNLC and were assigned to perform menial tasks, including cultivation-related tasks, which according to them was far-fetched from the cause of the organisation’s propaganda. As they were disillusioned and dissatisfied with the tasks assigned to them for more than 15 months in the hands of the senior cadres of HNLC, they decided to run away from Bangladesh on June 20 with an intention to return to the mainstream of society and have regretted joining the proscribed HNLC.
