MGU celebrates World Environment Day

Shillong, June 5: Mahatma Gandhi University in the state recently hosted a sapling plantation programme keeping in mind the World Environment Day on June 5.

Vice-chancellor Dr. Sagar O. Manjare said in a media statement, “Our Environment Day celebration goes beyond planting trees; it symbolizes our commitment to restore and protect our precious ecosystems. By inspiring change today, we are nurturing a greener and more sustainable future for tomorrow.”

NSS Coordinator Assistant Prof. Diganta Bhuyan and Program Officer of MGU added a touch of creativity and artistry to the event, captivating installations and exhibits showcased the beauty of nature and the urgency of environmental stewardship. From stunning sculptures crafted from recycled materials to thought-provoking photography capturing the magnificence of forests, these visual displays served as poignant reminders of the interconnectedness between humans and their natural surroundings.
