Minister for change of name of performing arts centre

Shillong, April 19: Arts and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh said on Wednesday that there are gaps in what was committed and what was achieved as far as the.Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts & Culture (SICPAC), Mawdiangdiang is concerned .

Lyngdoh carried out a visit of the area on Tuesday.

“We will try to bridge the gap beginning with the name of the project which is not the best of names as we have many sick units”, he said

This is going to house the biggest theater in North East India with a capacity of 1700, he added.

TheĀ  structure has been built at a cost of Rs 151.33 crore with fund support of Rs 136.20 crore from the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), and Rs 15.13 crore from the state.
