“It may be informed that today the two same persons came to Laitumkhrah Police Station after hearing of the allegation of kidnapping. On enquiring into the matter, it is ascertained that the two persons came to pick up their nephew, a child of class KG and gave the pet name of the child (which was not known to the teacher) instead of the official name to the class teacher. The pet name of the child also happened to be the name of a child in the same class, hence the misunderstanding”, the police said.

Parents of both the children have also appeared at the police station besides the principal and the class teacher of the school. The matter has been verified and confirmed that the case is one of misunderstanding, the police added.
