Shillong, Sept 17: Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) from Garo Hills and other regions of Meghalaya need new mobile phones to track poshan scheme.
This was brought to the notice of the director of social welfare department by the workers.
Following up the matter, social activist Cherian Momin said on Tuesday that there is an urgent need for new mobile phones to enable the effective use of the Poshan Tracker application, which is crucial for monitoring child nutrition and development under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, Momin said quoting the workers.
“Due to malfunctioning or outdated devices, many AWWs are currently unable to perform their duties effectively, impacting service delivery to beneficiaries. The workers have formally requested that the Directorate of Social Welfare address this issue by providing new mobile phones within a two-month period”, Momin said.
The workers threatened to resume their protests if the goverment does not provide the new tracker phones within two months.
