Shillong, Jan 4: NPP legislator from Phulbari constituency SG Esmatur Mominin has resigned as MLA.
Mominin handed over his resignation letter to the Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh at the Assembly Secretariat in Kyndai Lad on Wednesday. He will join the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

The NPP had announced the name of former Assembly Speaker AT Mondal as its official candidate from Phulbari constituency currently represented by Mominin.
Earlier, two NPP legislators – Ferlin CA Sangma (Selsella) and Benedic Marak (Raksamgre) – had resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Till date seven legislators resigned ahead of the polls.
