Morbi tragedy: Lawyer seeks court-monitored judicial inquiry

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI): The Supreme Court on Monday said it would soon list the PIL filed by lawyer Vishal Tiwari seeking a court-monitored judicial inquiry into the horrific Morbi Bridge Collapse tragedy, which claimed more than 135 lives and injuring 100.

A bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chadrachud, said, we will list the matter soon, as he said it was placed before him late on Sunday and he got the papers and documents at 10.25pm, and thereby, it could not be listed for hearing on Monday.

Tiwari, mentioned the matter before the bench led by the CJI Dr Chandrachud, as he said the Supreme Court had said that the matter will be listed for hearing today, but it was not listed today.

“There is an urgency in this case, as there are so many old structures across the nation and this court should hear it urgently,” Tiwari pleaded to the Supreme Court bench, and added that can it be taken up today.

To this, the CJI said, “This is Article 32 plea. what is the urgency. we will list it. We will assign a date.

Tiwari had moved the Supreme Court demanding a court-monitored judicial inquiry into the horrific Morbi Bridge Collapse tragedy, that had taken 145 lives and injured 100.

The PIL, filed by lawyer, Tiwari, sought a probe to be ordered by the Supreme Court and headed by a retired SC judge.
