More action against cops for involvement in drug case

Shillong, Aug 1: After the recent involvement of an armed branch constable from East Jaintia Hills in a drug seizure case, action has been taken against two more police men in similar cases.
According to police, in an operation conducted early morning on Monday, around 10.53 gm heroin was recovered from unarmed branch constable Ajay Chettri, who was subsequently placed under suspension.
The contraband was sent by another drug peddler named Khawbok Diengdoh (29), a resident of Dongkamon Nongmensong, who was also taken into custody and after a search, a small quantity of heroin was seized.
The driver, handyman and owner of Ria Travel Night Super Bus, Arup Nag (57), resident of upper Babupara, Tura, Suresh Burman (59), from Beldarpara, Tura and Shankar Dalu (33) from Mukdangra, Garobadha were also detained for interrogation.
Besides the bus, six mobile phones with sim card and a car were also seized.
