More students return from Manipur
Shillong, May 6: The state government has continued the process of evacuating the state residents stranded in Manipur.
17 students have arrived safely at Guwahati Airport on Saturday.
Am official statement said that the travel arrangements are also being made in the following dates – 50 students/citizens for May 7, 70 for May 8, 30 for May 9 and 15 for May 10.
Special flights from Imphal to Shillong are being arranged by the state government to bring students back at the earliest.
Two officers have been deputed by the government to travel and stay in Imphal to oversee the transfer of students/citizens from the state and arrange for local support for safe travels for the students.
“Transport Department is also arranging vehicles for students/citizens arriving at Guwahati Airport and the Government of Meghalaya is also arranging food on arrival daily at the airport”, the statement said.
The government is in touch with the students in Manipur to monitor the situation and provide them with every assistance for their safe return.
On Friday, 66 students reached Guwahati Airport safely by Alliance Air on directions by the chief minister.
On arrival at the Guwahati Airport the students were provided food and transportation was arranged for their return, the statement added.
