MRSSAB awaits President’s nod

Shillong, April  27: The Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill (MRSSAB), 2020 has been sent to the office of the President of India for his assent.

This was confirmed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday.

Sangma told reporters that initially when the MRSSA was sent, the governor had discussed the matter with the Home Ministry.

“Therefore, in the recommendations given by the then Governor which was then of course resent to us because we sent it back to the Governor and the new Governor again with the comments that were put in by the then Governor saying that this bill should be sent to the president for his approval,his consent and his comments accordingly through the governor secretariat the MRSSA bill has been sent to the president’s office,” he said.

The governor recently said the MRSSAB 2020 was sent for assent of the President.
