MSOA to hold 2022 NE Olympic in Oct as part of 50th statehood anniversary

Shillong, Dec 12: The special general body meeting of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) has decided to hold the second edition of the NE Olympic Games in the city in October next year.

The MSOA members also decided at the meeting on Saturday to hold seminars on the state’s sports policy and a 42-km marathon, among other events.

As part of the 50th anniversary of statehood celebrations, the state government has agreed to support the NE Olympic Games.

“Earlier last month, the NE Olympic Association (NEOA) had communicated to the MSOA their willingness to allot the games to Meghalaya in view of the 50th year celebration,” an MSOA statement said.

The 2022 budget and calendar were also approved by the members, including vice-president Bor Diengdoh, working president John Kharshiing, joint secretary Finely Pariat and treasurer Ksan Warjri (in picture above). The meeting was presided by Kharshiing.

MSOA will celebrate the annual international Olympic Day on June 23, 2022, and conduct events on National Sports Day on August 29, 2022.
