Mukroh probe panel gets extension for three months

Shillong, July 6:The state government has extended the tenure of one-man judicial inquiry commission probing the firing incident in Mukroh.

The extension for the commission headed by Justice (retired) T Vaiphei is till September from July.

The commission hopes to complete the task within September.

Hearing continues in city 

During the hearing held on Thursday, AS Pandey and A Sharan, the counsels for Meghalaya government were present.

KP Pathak represented Assam government while TL Jyrwa and E Bareh were present for the Mukroh villagers and J Shylla for the commission.

Assam government counsel informed the commission that no more witnesses will be produced from Assam.

Assam also filed a petition to allow cross-examination of Dr SR Marak assistant inspector general of police and Bikram Marak , SP West Khasi Hills who have already been examined and discharged.

Meghalaya also filed an application to summon Imdad Ali, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Guwahati (Metro) to give evidence before the commission.

As both the applications are under objection, the same will be taken up for hearing on July 18.
