Mukul sees ‘dirty intent’ in state BJP’s confidence
Shillong, Jan 6: Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma has criticised BJP for its “dirty intent” in saying that no government would be formed without the saffron party in 2023.
“What are they trying to say? Are they trying to buy the MLAs? Are they trying to engage in corruption? This is a reflection of their dirty intent, their dirty mind. I think the people of the state should give them a fitting reply,” Sangma told reporters on Friday.
BJP state president Ernest Mawrie recently claimed that the message on the ground is clear that no government would be formed without the BJP in 2023.
Sangma said it was the wisdom of the people of the state that there was no BJP in 2010 and 2013.
“They (the BJP leadership) have tried to supersede even before the mandate, the very basic tenets of democracy. It is quite offensive to the electorate itself and I would like to condemn this,” he added.
Referring to the current NPP-led alliance government where BJP is also a part, the former chief minister said the state electorate this time would not repeat the mistake as they are paying the price of choosing a “remote-control” government.
