Shillong, Aug 28: Five TMC MLAs with the support of the lone Congress MLA Ronnie Lyngdoh have staked claim for the posts of Leader of Opposition and the Opposition Chief Whip.
Speaker Thomas Sangma said that on Tuesday after the resignation of Ronnie as the Leader of Opposition, six MLAs-5 from the TMC and 1 from the Congress- proposed the name of senior leader Mukul Sangma as the leader of opposition and Ronnie as opposition chief whip.

“Today, they were physically present in my room..I will examine the matter and give my ruling”, the Speaker said.
According to the Speaker, the group fulfils the requirement of six members which is one tenth of the House.
