Mukul wants govt to address plight of GHADC staff

Shillong, Aug 21: Opposition leader Mukul Sangma wanted the state government to take responsibility instead of blaming others for the financial crisis in GHADC
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma recently blamed the previous government for the issues affecting the functioning of GHADC.
However, Mukul said attempts by the MDA government to blame the previous government are not acceptable.
Mukul pointed out that the creation of new districts, subdivisions, C&RD blocks, police stations, colleges, and battalions during his government’s time was aimed at delivering employment and development.
“Does it mean to indicate that because so many jobs were created, today salaries cannot be paid?” he said in response to the stand of Conrad that the GHADC-led Executive Committee did not effect appointments in the council, unlike the past.
Mukul reminded that in 2015–16, Rs 100.16 crore under the Special Assistance Grant by the Centre was released to the ADCs but was misused.
Regarding the protest by GHADC employees, Mukul said the government is insensitive and anti-people.
