NABARD & NE institute of professional studies organise exhibition

Shillong, Mar 11:  The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and  the North East Institute of Professional Studies (NeIPS), conducted a two-day exhibition and sale at Trot Sing Ground in Mairang during international women’s day
Themed “Count Her: In Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment,” the event served as a platform to highlight the indomitable spirit and entrepreneurial prowess of women across Meghalaya. With 50 meticulously curated stalls, attendees were treated to a diverse array of products ranging from locally sourced agricultural produce to intricately crafted handloom and handicrafts, exemplifying the rich tapestry of talents within the region.
Beyond the commercial aspect, the exhibition also served as an educational hub, with informative displays such as an irrigation model presented by the Soil and Water Conservation Department, Kisan Vigyan Kendra (KVK), and an information center established by the Meghalaya Regional Rural Bank (MRB) and the State Bank of India. These initiatives aim to equip attendees, particularly farmers, with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their agricultural practices.
Dignitaries including Gideon Kharmawphlang, Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills, and Dr. Prabudutta Sahoo, General Manager, NABARD’s Meghalaya Regional Office, Phila Nongkynrih, DDM, NABARD, and  Michael Thongni, CCEO, NeIPS among others. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort and unwavering commitment towards fostering gender equality and economic empowerment.
NABARD and NeIPS took the opportunity to honour and felicitate outstanding women in various fields including sports, self-help groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and women farmers.
The culmination of the event was marked by a  fashion show, showcasing the talent and creativity of women trainees from NeIPS.
