Nagaland futsal team fails to qualify for national championship

Kohima, Nov 11: The Telongjem FC from Mokokchung, which represented Nagaland at the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Hero Futsal Club Championship 2021-22, failed to qualify for the semi-final round after losing their first two matches.

The Telongjem FC ended their campaign on a positive note by registering an emphatic win in their last match against TRAU FC 12-8 here in Delhi on Wednesday.

In their first match, the team lost against Delhi FC by 16-6 and also went down against 7Wasa United SC by 8-2.

Coach Tia said the championship will play the role of a perfect catalyst to promote the game (Futsal) across the state. Adding that the championship has been a huge platform for the team, he said the players will promote and develop the beautiful game (futsal) once they are back to Nagaland.

Telongjem FC by virtue of being the champions of the 1st Nagaland Futsal Championship 2021 was invited the club to participate in the first edition of the Futsal Club Championship.

They are the first team to have qualified for the maiden edition of the Hero Futsal Club Championship organised by All India Football Federation.
