Shillong, March 6: Chief Minister designate Conrad Sangma has announced that the coalition will be known as MDA- 2 and there will be 8 ministers from the NPP, including the Chief Minister, 2 from UDP, one each from BJP and HSPDP.
Neither PDF MLAs nor two Independents were accommodated in the ministry.
Independents Kartush Marak and Remington Gabil Momin, who had earlier supported the NPP, did not get any berth.
While four cabinet berths , including chief minister will be from Garo Hills NPP, four others will be from Khasi-Jaintia Hills.With 2 from UDP, one each from BJP and HSPDP, there will be 8 cabinet ministers from the Khasi and Jaintia Hills regions.
A resolution was passed within the NPP in the candidature for the Speaker’s post and the election.
“The NPP has proposed the name and they have entrusted me to speak to the rest of the coalition partners to formalise the name and once I have spoken to the coalition partners and get their consent, we will be announcing the name of the candidate for the Speaker’s post,” Conrad said.
He said the MDA will again sit to decide on the common minimum programme, coordination committee and other issues.
