NCC welcomes city Everester Rifiness Warjri in Umroi

Shillong, June 21: NCC welcomed Everester Rifiness Warjri at Umroi airport on Thursday.
20-year-old Rifiness submitted Mount Everest on May 18 at an altitude of 8,848 metres.
Rifiness is the fourth climber and third woman from Meghalaya to summit Everest.
The earlier achievers from the state were Gary Jarman Lamare (2012), Wansuk Myrthong (2013), and Dolyne Kharbhih (2013).
Refiness, a student of St Anthony ‘s College, is from 61 Meghalaya Girl BN NCC.
Refiness was welcomed by Major AK Warjri 61 Meghalaya Girl BN NCC.
Her parents, relatives, village leaders and members of NCC were also present.
Speaking to reporters Refiness thanked God for protecting her and helping to achieve her dream.
Rifiness said it took around one year’s preparation to climb Mount Everest.
Out of 17 lakh NCC cadets in India, only 10 students- 5 males and 5 females- were selected.
Rifiness is the only female NCC student from the state and the North East.
