Shillong, July 19: NEHU wanted to implement National Education Policy( NEP) 2020 from August 1.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar said that as NEHU is ready for the implementation of the policy, he hoped that the colleges affiliated with the NEHU will start implementing the policy from August 1.
However, in the recent meetings, heads of several colleges had expressed the inability to implement the policy by citing infrastructure issues and they wanted the policy to be implemented from next year.
The state government admitted the difficulties being faced by the colleges and the Education Minister Rakkam Sangma had also favoured the implementation of the policy from next year.
According to NEHU, the colleges which are finding it difficult to implement NEP 2020 can approach NEHU.
The NEHU functionaries have also stressed collaboration of affiliated colleges with the skill development centres in Meghalaya for the smooth implementation of NEP 2020.
