Shillong, Nov 4: North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor Prof PS Shukla has said the appointment of the technical officer cum senior consultant Rohit Prasad was made after taking the approval of the University’s Executive Council (EC).
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Prof Shukla said the VC is the appointing authority for temporary appointment to all Group A/Group B posts. The appointment of Rohit Prasad is not permanent and it will also be coterminous with the vice chancellor.
“The decision to appoint Prasad was also made after taking the approval of the EC,” he asserted.
The Vice Chancellor responded a day after the Joint Action Committee comprising NEHUTA, NEHUNSA and NEHUSU had served a 10-day ultimatum to terminate the service of Prasad. The JAC had also demanded that salaries paid to Prasad should be recovered from the VC’s remuneration and not at all from the University’s account.
