Neil Nongkynrih laid to rest

Shillong, Jan 8: Musician and founder of Shillong Chamber Choir Neil Nongkynrih (52) was laid to rest at Lawmali cemetery, Jaiaw  on Saturday evening in the presence of his loved and near ones,, friends and well-wishers.

Neil passed away in Mumbai following a surgery for ulcer on Wednesday evening.

Prior to his last journey to Lawmali, a funeral service was held at his residence at Pohkseh attended by large number of people, including some from other parts of India and abroad.

During the service,  several Choir members in tears recalled their association with ‘Uncle Neil’, as he was fondly addressed.

Hymns sung by the Choir were part of the service.

Neil’s sister, Pauline Warjri, remembered their childhood days and how he grew up as a musician.

At Lawmali cemetery, people bid adieu to Neil with tears and prayers and finally by laying wreaths.
