
Shillong, Dec 30: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), wanted capital punishment for the killers of Anjel Chakma.
NESO sent a memorandum to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday.
According to NESO chairman, NESO vehemently condemns such harassment is a recurring threat to students and residents from the region across India.
“We demand capital punishment to the perpetrators of the heinous crime at the earliest and establishment of at least one special police station dedicated for deaing with cases related t racial discrimination and atrocities on NE people,” Jyrwa said.
NESO demanded immediate enactment of a stringent Anti‑Racism Act to address racial hate crimes.
Chakma,who was brutally beaten and stabbed in Dehradun on December 9, 2025 succumbed to his injuries on December 26 after a two‑week hospital battle.
His brother, Michael Chakma, was also assaulted in the same incident.
NESO highlighted that the attack was racially motivated.
