New political party rising in Nagaland

Kohima July 4 (UNI): A new political party, known as the Rising People’s Party (RPP), sounded their election bugle in Dimapur on Saturday, which has reportedly received recognition from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on June 6 last, the party said on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference at a tourist lodge in Dimapur, RPP President Joel Naga promised that an alternative to an existing “rot in the system” and rebuilding a new Nagaland was needed and RPP will lead the way in this. The RPP vision coincides with Gandhian self-reliance, sacrifice and non-violence, a vision that would replace a failed system led by below par political parties.

“We have a dream; we have a vision for the Naga people. We want to bring in real change. It is not rhetoric, it is an ideal which we are prepared to sacrifice for,” he said.

RPP Vice President Abeny Khuvung, commenting on the prospect of women in decision-making roles, said that there are enough women leveling up and challenging the status quo. The public, she said, should start believing in the capability of women and not just in the perceived feminine role of women.
