NHAI toll revenue up over 6% in Meghalaya from FY24
NHAI PIU Shillong has issued corrected toll revenue figures for the Financial Year 2024-25
Shillong, Dec 10: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Shillong, has issued corrected toll revenue figures for the Financial Year 2024-25 following an RTI petition by Rakesh Hazarika, Executive Director of the Centre for Efficient Governance. After correction, the figures show a 6.4% increase in revenue collection.
This correction comes after an earlier discrepancy in which PIU Shillong inadvertently supplied identical toll revenue data for two different periods; FY 2023–24 and Calendar Year 2024.
In its reply to the RTI petition dated December 8, 2025, NHAI PIU Shillong confirmed that Pahammawlein Toll Plaza collected Rs 61.26 crore in FY 2024-25, Diengpasoh Toll Plaza collected Rs 24.80 crore, Pasyih Toll Plaza collected Rs 9.99 crore, and Lumshnong Toll Plaza recorded zero toll collection. With these updated figures, the total toll revenue collected from Meghalaya for FY 2024–25 stands at Rs 96.05 crore.
A comparative analysis of the two financial years shows notable shifts in toll revenue. For FY 2023-24, PIU Shillong had earlier reported a total toll collection of ₹90.26 crore from Meghalaya. In contrast, the newly provided figures for FY 2024-25 indicate a rise to Rs 96.05 crore. This reflects increased toll-based revenue generation across the state of Meghalaya, with Pahammawlein and Diengpasoh showing growth, Pasyih experiencing a slight decline, and Lumshnong reporting no collection at all.
Reacting to the updated figures, Hazarika said that while he welcomes the corrected information, the episode underscores the urgent need for greater accuracy and diligence in NHAI’s toll revenue reporting. He emphasised that transparent and reliable data is essential for ensuring accountability in toll-based infrastructure operations.
