Shillong, May 7: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has sought inquiry by the National Human Rights Commission/Meghalaya State Human Rights Commission into the killing of the local truck driver by the BSF at Mawshun.
In a statement, the Batskhem Myrboh
Spokesperson, of VPP while condemning the excesses committed by the Border Security Force personnel on Runing Nongkynrih, asked the state and its agencies not to deprive the citizens of the right to life as guaranteed by the Constitution of India in a casual and irresponsible manner.
“We express serious concern that the state and its agencies are not diligent to follow the due process of law. Further, the party demands that the victim should be properly compensated”, the VPP said..
