NIA raid in Meghalaya part of Delhi blast probe: CM

Shillong, Nov 13: Chief Minister Conrad  Sangma on Thursday said the raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Meghalaya were to trace linkages to the recent Delhi bomb blast.
According to sources, the raid was  carried out in Maheshkhola-Rongra area of South Garo Hills tracing illegal immigrants linked to terror network

“The information we have received indicates raids are taking place at multiple locations. The NIA is trying to gather details, and it is an ongoing investigation,” Sangma told reporters.
He did not want to divulge information due to the sensitive nature of national security, but assured full cooperation from the state government.

“We are here to cooperate with them (NIA) in every way possible, providing whatever help and support is needed. The matter is sensitive, and we will refrain from going into details”, he added.

When asked about the locations in South Garo Hills, the chief minister refused to reply, citing security implications.

“I do not want to compromise the investigation by disclosing details”, he said.

Regarding the safety of Shillong, Sangma said the situation is completely different and the probe is limited to background checks.
“However, there is no cause for alarm”, he said.

He also dismissed any specific alert for Meghalaya, stating that it is part of the investigation process.

“The investigations are ongoing, and I will not comment beyond what is necessary to protect national security. There is nothing to worry about; it is part of the investigation,” he said.
