The delegation also raised the delay in implementing the amended Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) 2020 and recognition to Khasi-Garo language.

According to Synrem, the home ministry did not say yes or no on the issue of ILP.

The union government had raised the issue of  Meghalaya being a transit point besides the impact on tourism if ILP is introduced.

In response, Synrem said,” These concerns were raised by the deputy chief minister quoting the Centre but our view is that the ILP can be initiated at the entry point. We also don’t feel that ILP will affect tourism.
