Shillong, March 30: The CLP leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that there is no move to change the leadership of the party.
This was in response to a question whether the party will change the MPCC president and Shillong MP Vincent H Pala following the poor performance of the Congress in the Assembly polls. Pala was defeated by NPP’s Santa Mary Shylla from Sutnga-Saipung constituency.
The party got only 5 seats .
According to Lyngdoh, it is not fair to hold a single person responsible for the poll debacle.
“It is not right as responsibility has to be taken by the entire organisation instead of blaming everything on the leader,” he said.
Lyngdoh said that Congress votes were divided after 17 MLAs left the party ahead of 2023 polls. He cited the case of East Shillong and said the party got only 2-3 months to decide on the candidate and yet the candidate had given a tough fight.
The party is gearing up for the district council and Lok Sabha polls.
