No plan to resort to power cuts: Minister

Umiam bridge work to be over byJuly

Shillong, June 6: Power Minister AT Mondal on Thursday said the state is in a comfortable position and there would not be any load shedding.

“We are in a comfortable situation so there is no need to worry for loadshedding,” Mondal told reporters on Thursday.

He said the recent cyclone Remal created havoc hindering power distribution and transmission system. This has led to frequent power cut across the state.

Hr also said the rehabilitation of the Umiam dam and retrofitting of the bridge are being targeted to be completed within the first week of August.

Mondal said, “We are working on it and I am very confident that it will be completed in due course of time by July or first week of August.”
