Shillong, Sep 19: Villagers at Bataw Mihsngi Colony in East Jaiñtia Hills have been living in the dark for a month after the transformer went out of service.
After the villagers’ request to MePDCL fell on deaf ears, the Jaiñtia National Council Southern Border Zone took up their cause. Its general secretary, Marbaitlang P Suchiang, has written to the Executive Engineer of MePDCL, Khliehriat division, requesting immediate action.

The council also asked the EE to replace an eroded electric pole that is posing a threat to passers-by.
