NorthEast United FC square off against FC Goa

Fatorda, Oct 31: NorthEast United FC will look to sign off their AIFF Super Cup campaign on a positive note when they take on FC Goa in their final Group ‘B’ fixture at the Fatorda Stadium, here on Saturday.

With only the group toppers progressing to the semifinals, FC Goa have already booked their place in the next round following a 3-0 win over Inter Kashi FC, after NorthEast United FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Jamshedpur FC.

While the Highlanders are no longer in contention for a semifinal spot, head coach Juan Pedro Benali’s side will aim to deliver a strong performance and end their campaign on a high. Leading the attack for NorthEast United FC, Moroccan marksman Alaaeddine Ajaraie has continued his fine scoring form with goals in both matches so far. He will be supported by Chema Nunez, Jairo Samperio, Parthib Gogoi, India international Jithin MS, Lalrinzuala, Lalbiakdika, and Thoi Singh in the forward line.

In midfield, Andy Rodríguez, Mayakkannan, Macarton Nickson, Fredy Chawngthansanga and Danny Meitei will look to dictate the tempo and maintain control in possession. Captain Michel Zabaco, who scored a commanding header from Rodriguez’s corner against Inter Kashi, will marshal the backline comprising Asheer Akhtar, Tondonba Singh, Redeem Tlang, Buanthanglun Samte, and Dinesh Singh, with Gurmeet Singh guarding the goal.
Come Saturday, the Highlanders will aim to showcase their resilience, pride, and fighting spirit one final time in this year’s competition.
