Novak Djokovic beats Tsitsipas to win French Open

Paris, Jun 13 (UNI) Serbia’s Novak Djokovic defeated Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his second French Open title, here at Roland Garros on Sunday.

The World Number one Djokovic defeated Tsitsipas, who was playing his first major final, 6-7 (6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to to clinch his 19th major title. He was two sets down in the match, which lasted four hours and eleven minutes, before staging a comeback to win the last three sets.

With the virtue of this win, Djokovic has become the first player in 50 years after Roy Emerson and Rod Laver to win all four Slams twice and has also become the first man in the Open era to achieve the milestone.

Now, Djokovic is just one title away from Switzerland’s Roger Federer and Spain’s Rafael Nadal’s tally of 20 Grand Slams.
