NPP launches election campaign from Adokgre remembering PA Sangma

Shillong, Jan 23: Following their leader (L) P A Sangma’s election ritual, the  NPP leadership rolled out the party’s election campaign for 2023 from Adokgre, Kharkutta, North Garo Hills.

“We pay tribute to his ‘People First’ mission that proves its relevance till today. We are here because of his vision & we build from where he started”,  NPP national president Conrad Sangma tweeted on Monday.

Adokgre was called ‘Chenanggre’ or ‘Land of Victory’ by my late father and as we stand together in Adokgre for the National People’s Party, we will ensure 2023 will be the people’s victory. We pledge to represent you & take our state further in its growth journey”, Conrad added.

Chenangre holds significance to NPP both as symbolic and emotional as PA Sangma always launched his election campaigns from here.

The rally was special in many ways as the programme relived the life of PA Sangma through playback of his audio-video clips, where he talked about A’chik pride and A’chik identity.

The programme also played one of the favourite songs of PA Sangma – Oh Ang Aman Asong, which is like an anthem to the people of Garo Hills. The crowd joined to sing the anthem.

The rally was held at the recently inaugurated Chenangre Stadium. This stadium was long promised to the people of Adokgre by PA Sangma. During his time, he had given some money for construction of a rostrum. But the  chief minister ensured the construction of the mini stadium; in a fulfilling the dream of his father and the people of Adokgre.

Speaking to the people gathered, NPP national president Conrad recalled his father late PA Sangma’s vision to take Meghalaya forward and how NPP is taking forward his legacy and fulfilling his unfinished tasks. He talked about NPP and the work his party has done in 5 years in Meghalaya and how it envisions to continue the dream of PA Sangma.

Remember PA Sangma and vote for NPP’

The NPP leaders also urged the people of Garo Hills to remember the legacy of late PA Sangma and vote for NPP.

“People of Garo hills should remember late P.A Sangma and vote for NPP. We have all joined NPP to take his footprints forward. He is watching from heaven and Garo Hills and Meghalaya is synonymous with his name,” said Deputy Chief Minister Prystone Tynsong, the national vice-president of NPP.

Many prominent and senior leaders were present at the rally including Deputy CM Prestone , Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, Cabinet Minister James Sangma and also newly inducted members Amapreen Lyngdoh, Mohendro Rapsang, Kimfa Marbaniang among others.
