Shillong, Oct 14: One person died of suffocation during the fire incident in Thana Road on Saturday.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtynger confirmed that a male person died of suffocation due to smoke following the fire incident.

The victim has been identified as Sampath Kumar who was working at the rented godown of Bhajanlal in a building owned by Singhania family.
The fire service personnel and the central forces are still engaged in dousing the fire.
