Shillong, June 18: One person has been arrested in the city on Thursday with contraband.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said on Friday the police acted on intelligence input about a person carrying narcotics. The district anti-narcotics task force and Madanrting police “immediately proceeded towards the residence of the suspect in Madanrting”, the statement from Nongtnger said.

The search of the residence led the team to 2 kg of opium. There were independent witnesses too, the police said.
A case has been registered and investigation is on to ascertain more facts into the case.
