Hundreds of people came out at Kangchup, Phayeng and Leimakhong areas here as suspected Kuki militants released videos of their cadres moving towards Imphal areas to attack people. The villagers said they could not go out of their homes as militants were firing towards them from the hill areas.

Farming activities were also halted since May 3, 2023, due to the clashes.

Women who kept vigil on the roads said there would be no peace until the hill areas were sanitised. A few bunkers built by Kuki militants to attack people of another ethnic group were also demolished on Saturday by a combined force after the attack on CRPF.
