
Shillong, Feb 19: Shanki Shylla, the mine worker who was in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
Shylla was one of the miners injured in the blast at Thangkso in East Jaintia Hills. He was admitted in NEIGRIHMS.

With Shylla’s death, the toll is now 34 — four from Meghalaya, 15 from Nepal, 13 from Assam and two remain unidentified. One more injured person is still in NEIGRIHMS. The local workers have been identified as Kmen Rymbai (24), Lajarijaj Sangma (41) and Heimonmi Pasiein (48).
An official told Meghalaya Monitor that disbursement of compensation to the victims is becoming difficult due to non-availability of documents and account details, especially those of the Nepali citizens.
