Patna, Apr 2 (UNI): In a sudden move, the outgoing BJP MP from Muzaffarpur Ajay Nishad, apparently annoyed at the denial of the party ticket, resigned and joined Congress.

Nishad, who represented the Muzaffarpur parliamentary seat for the last two consecutive terms announced his resignation from BJP and subsequently joined Congress on social media through his X account.

Addressing BJP National President J P Nadda, Nishad wrote that he was shocked by the betrayal of BJP4India and resigned from all posts and the primary party’s membership.

Soon after his resignation, Nishad in another message wrote that he had joined Congress and may contest the election if the party’s high command orders for it.

Accusing the BJP of being arrogant, Nishad alleged that money power and muscle power were prevailing in the BJP and people would give a suitable reply to the party in the Lok Sabha election.

Denying the ticket to Nishad, the BJP fielded Raj Bhushan Chaudhary from the Muzaffarpur seat.

Earlier Nishad had defeated Congress’s Akhilesh Prasad Singh by about 2,23,000 votes in 2014 and Raj Bhushan Choudhary by 4.10 lakh votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Captain Jai Narayan Nishad, father of Ajay Nishad had represented Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha seat in 1996, 1998 and 1999.
