PA Sangma stadium is safe: CM

Shillong,Jan 17: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said the PA Sangma stadium in safe.
His response was after a media report stated that the PA Sangma stadium was declared unsafe by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)
However, the chief minister said that the retaining wall of the west stand collapsed earlier and the state government has sanctioned Rs 45 crore for its reconstruction.
The DDMA’s letter to Coal India was to request land for extending the west stand and constructing a road to nearby localities.
He said the news report was completely incorrect and misinterpreted.
“The fact of the matter is very simple… The DDMA had written to Coal India saying that kindly give that space because this entire structure is unsafe from the point of view that if we continue like this from Coal India and other point of view that west stand area needs to be constructed immediately,” Sangma told reporters on Saturday.
Sangma urged the concerned newspaper to do proper research before publishing news.
“I urge the press fraternity that rather than just being excited about some news just giving out news without doing proper research it only brings doubts on the credibility of the agency.”
