Parliamentary panel reviews central projects in city
Shillong, Nov 11: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, has reviewed the centrally sponsored schemes implemented in Meghalaya as part of its study tour to the North East.
The review meeting of the Rajya Sabha team held at Vivanta here was for the schemes under the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
Chief Secretary DP Wahlang and other senior officials of the different state government departments were present.
According to sources, while the parliamentary standing committee (PSC) will prepare a report and send it to the Ministry of DoNER for necessary action, the ministry will in turn send the report to the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the state government for necessary action as far as the implementation is concerned.
The report will contain recommendations not only for Meghalaya but for other states too, sources added.
The PSC will visit Assam on November 14.
Inspection of water supply scheme
The PSC members also inspected the water treatment plant of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme at Mawphlang.
