Parties should not take credit for govt schemes: UDP leader
Shillong, Dec 20: United Democratic Party (UDP) minister Kyrmen Shylla has said political parties should not take credit for the implementation of any government schemes in the state.
“The scheme given to the public does not belong to any political party. We cannot say that this scheme belongs to the NPP or the UDP as it belongs to the people of the state,” Shylla told reporters in response to the allegations that the FOCUS scheme is being made an NPP scheme.
According to him, if the chief minister or the NPP are claiming that FOCUS is their scheme then it is wrong as they have no rights to do that.
Shylla said though allegations will be there, the people should accept the scheme if it is benefiting them instead of listening to others.
“If what other political parties are alleging the chief minister is true as far as FOCUS is concerned, it is for the people to take action in 2023 but if it is not true then, they should know what to do next,” he asserted.
Give UDP a chance
Shylla also appealed to the people of the state to give UDP a chance to lead the government in 2023.
“Give UDP a chance to lead the state so that we can show what we can do for the people and the state,” Shylla said.
Against money power
He asked the people not to vote for money and added that it is pointless to vote for money.
“I will do my best and ensure I come back as the public’s love is still with me. The youth are still with me and their parents are also supporting me,” he said.
