People’s support needed for railway: BJP leaders

Shillong,Feb 13: Bihar Member of Legislative Council and convenor of Budget Publicity Campaign for North East, Devesh Kumar, stressed local support for expanding rail connectivity in the three North East states including Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Kumar said, “Prime minister wants each and every state to be connected by the rail network, but this has to be done with the help of the local population”.
Kumar, who is in charge of Mizoram, said the recent connection to the rail network s is a “boon”.
Kumar added that only three states in the North East lack rail connectivity, and the government is “more than willing” to extend the network with local cooperation.
BJP national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi salt, “The work has begun… we will ensure that is supplemented and we really hope all states are connected.”
Ilmi stressed the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure.
