
Shillong, April 11: Pine Mount school started its quasquicentennial (125th year) celebrations here on Friday.
Cake cutting, flag hoisting, speeches, songs and dances marked the occasion.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong opened the quasquicentennial celebrations and assured to follow up with the government regarding the request of the school to part with the animal park in the adjacent area for the expansion of the school.

He wanted the all India ranking of the school to go up to 10 from the present 23.
Tynsong said the government has increased the budget for the education which will boost the sector.
Rakkam promised additional over Rs 4 crore for the infrastructure development of the school.

Principal of the school Banridor Nongbri said earthquake and fire incidents did not hamper the enthusiasm of the visionaries who continued to serve the students since 1900.
Alumna of the school and Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, who attended the event, expressed happiness as she could take part in the celebrations.
The school will organise various events as part of the celebrations which will culminate in December.
