Pistol, AK live ammunition may belong to GNLA-ULFA: EGH SP

Shillong, June 27: A pistol, AK live ammunition and others recovered on June 24 from a forest area in East Garo Hills may belong to GNLA-ULFA combine.
East Garo Hills SP Stephen A. Rynjah said the weapons and ammunition are ‘suspected to be of GNLA-ULFA’.
Though the militants hid the items before they were neutralized in Garo Hills, all are usable and in very good condition, especially the AK ammunition’ according to the police. All were covered in grease and packed properly for later use by them.
It was on June 23,, acting on reliable intelligence, a police team from Williamnagar and Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, conducted the search operation in a thick jungle near Chikama village under Rongjeng police station. The operation, led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Williamnagar, along with other officers and personnel from Rongjeng PS and Williamnagar, commenced at 11.30 pm on June 23.
Around 2 am on June 24, the team unearthed the cache of arms and ammunition buried in the jungle near Chikama village.
The recovered items include:
1 country-made pistol.
212 suspected live AK ammunition.
22 suspected anti-aircraft ammunition.
13 damaged anti-aircraft ammunition without pellets.
11 loose pellets.
52 pieces of 6.5 mm live ammunition.
The recovered items were seized at the spot in the presence of witnesses.
